Construction materials account for a large quantity of CO2 emissions, generally acknowledged to be bad for our Environment, cementitious and PVC products are amongst the biggest offenders.

An easy and quick gain to reduce CO2 in construction is to switch to timber where possible and where practical. Wood for Good.

Sashless Windows are manufactured from engineered, laminated timber, obtained from sustainable, FSC® or other managed and accredited European forests, with full 'chain of custody'. And for every tree harvested two are planted.

As trees grow, they remove carbon dioxide from the atmosphere and 'lock' it into the timber, reducing the Carbon in the atmosphere.

Sashless timber windows and doors are Carbon Negative meaning that they lock in more carbon than is used in their manufacture. For every Sashless timber window that we craft an average of 12.5kg of CO2 (Davis Langdon Study 2010) is locked in.

Unlike any other material used to manufacture window sashes, timber is eminently repairable, ask the Tudors.

Sashless Windows with their drained and vented construction have an expected working life of 60 - 80 years (Herriot Watt Institute 2012).

Timber is the most sustainable and environmentally friendly of ALL of the readily available construction materials and at the end of their useful working life, factory finished timber windows are 100% recyclable.

Sashless create their windows and doors from a variety of FSC® and other certified timber species, such as European Oak, Sapele, Red Grandis and Hemlock, although our default material of choice is an Engineered Redwood.

British and European sawmills have introduced many new developments in 'timber engineering' over recent years to produce a dimensionally stable, defect free product that uses cross laminations of timber to reduce or eliminate warping and movement while considerably improving the products strength and durability.

More expensive than 'rough sawn' or CLS timber, engineered timbers give less waste in production, a guaranteed moisture content and provide a superior surface for painting. Resulting in a superior quality, longer lasting, timber window.
